„From Calculus to Number Theory via Cohomology“
Prof. Anantharam Raghuram, Oklahoma State Universtity

Abstract: I will begin this talk with some classical formulae one encounters in Calculus. This will then form a backdrop to the subject of special values of L-functions. The middle part of the talk will be an introduction to a cohomological approach to "neo-classical" theorems of Shimura on the special values of L-functions attached to (Hilbert) modular forms. The final part of the talk will be an overview of some recent work of mine, in collaboration with Harald Grobner, on the special values of L-functions attached to automorphic forms on GL(2n) over a totally real number field.
