„Braid stability and the Hofer metric“
Dr. Matthias Meiwes, RWTH Aachen

In my talk I will discuss a result stating that, under certain conditions, the braid type of a set of periodic orbits of a Hamiltonian surface diffeomorphism is stable under perturbations that are sufficiently small with respect to the Hofer metric. This yields interesting dynamical applications. For example, one obtains that the topological entropy is lower semi-continuous on the group of Hamiltonian diffeomorphisms on a closed surface with respect to this metric. All this is joint work with Marcelo R.R. Alves.
