„The Zariski closure of Hitchin representations and of positive representations “

The Hitchin component and the moduli space of positive representations are two instances of generalized Teichmüller spaces. For representations in both those spaces, we determine all the possible Zariski closures : they are the algebraic groups containing the principal SL2. Furthermore, we give how to determine the Zariski closure of a representation from its image under the Hitchin map or from its coordinates in the Fock and Goncharov parametrisation.
