„ Hurwitz Translation Surfaces“
Prof. Dr. Gabriela Weitze-Schmithüsen, KIT Karlsruhe

A translation surface is a surface with an atlas all of whose transition maps are translations. Finite translation surfaces are obtained from finitely many polygons in the Euclidean plane for which pairs of parallel edges of equal length are glued together via translations. How big can the automorphism group, i.e. the group of translations, of such a surface be? Similarly as for Riemann surfaces there is a natural upper bound in terms of the genus of the surface. We study surfaces which achieve this upper bound. This is joint work with Jan-Christoph Schlage-Puchta.
