„New counterexamples to a Milnor conjecture“

Milnor conjectured that any group of affine transformations acting properly discontinuously is virtually solvable. Until recently, the only known counterexamples were those given by Abels, Margulis and Soifer in 2002: they are free groups with linear part Zariski-dense in SO(2n+2,2n+1). I shall present a much larger family of counterexamples, obtained by a construction analogous to that of Abels et al.
